Art Forty-Two Abuse Policy

Definition of abuse

On Art Forty-Two abuse is defined in two categories:

Karma Abuse:
Karma abuse is any slanderous comment that includes language based on hate, profanity or spam. Comments that include racist slurs, profanity, or a personal attack of another member will be either deleted by a moderator or edited for content depending on the extent of the abuse. If karma is deleted the karma point will default to neutral and will not effect the calculation of the abused member's feedback.

Project Abuse:
Project abuse is any slanderous, pornographic, or illegal project that should not be included in this art community. Slanderous projects include any that suggest any kind hate of or toward other members. Our definition of pornography includes the objectification of women or men for the sole purpose of sexual arousal. We do not consider nudity in art to be pornographic; we expect our members to use their best judgment. Illegal projects are those that include piracy or other types of copyright infringement such as trading music or anything not allowed by law. This also includes projects that are spam.

The line between critique and abuse

It is difficult to hear that your work or hosting skills could be improved. Art Forty-Two wants to create a safe, creative environment for artists - one that includes appropriate critique. Critique allows us to grow and expand our creative vision. Critique is the polite, sincere suggestion of one artist towards another's work. It focuses on the art or project management and does not attack the individual. An example of critique is below.

Reporting abuse

Art Forty-Two has provided several places for members to report abuse as it is found. We do our best to monitor the site for abuse but need your help. On each project and on each karma entry members are allowed to report comments or projects that fall into the abuse definitions above. Once you click the report abuse link, you will be asked to explain why you think the comment or project is abusive. A site moderator will review your report and take one of the following actions:

Modify the Abuse:
Comments or projects that includes abuse in addition to other content that is allowable will be modified to remove the abuse. The comment or project will then be marked with the symbol Ø.

Delete the Abuse:
Comments or projects that can not be modified to remove the abuse will be deleted and replaced with the symbol Ø and the message, "This comment has been deleted by a moderator."

Multiple abuse reports on specific members or the false reporting of abuse

Members who have been flagged for abuse several times or who have falsely reported abuse several times will have their account disabled. The Art Forty-Two moderators will send notification to members each time their comments or projects are flagged for abuse. If the comment or project was not determined to be abusive nothing will happen. If more than 3 comments or projects for a member are reported as abuse, and deemed to be abusive the member will be placed on probation. Any abuse reported during the probationary period (three months) will cause the account to be suspended. After three months the user will be off probation.
